New dedicated pages coming . . .

                  Kelly’s Causes©

I wish I had the time to support all charities.
Copyright photograph. Not to be reproduced without written permission.

On my very first posting  I listed the causes close to my heart. And, I also pointed out that "celibrity status" can open many doors. And attract attention and funding for worthy causes (no, silly, not me.) So I tend to be fastidious about helping raise dollars, since there are so many instances where only a few cents out of each dollar raised goes to the primary recipient that is "baiting" the money trap . . . dogs, cats, animal rescue, PTSD veterans, brain damaged people, Autistic and Challenged Children,  Women's Causes, etc - -  and Cancer sufferers, young and old.

Thus the pages for the very few offer that I agree to help. I only do so, after careful due diligence. And for those that I do support, I ask for you, the friends of mine that read my posts -- yes YOU  -- support them also.

My picture above, was taken this month in New York. They will have their own page on my blog in the near future.

Thursday, March 29, 2012. Fernando Luis Alvarez performs Convergence with Connecticut Ballet dancers and actress Kelly LeBrock. The performance, designed and created by Alvarez, enacts Alvarez's transition from businessman to contemporary artist, as well as the women that supported and distracted him along that journey...

It'S tough being in the public's eye --

"KELLY FAT?"

                                 Nope . . .

                                "KELLY FIT"

Well, on my first blog I told you that a couple of my movies were both blessings and heavy mantles to carry. Some comments were wounding, especially comments on my weight. Always comparing me with before I had children.

Notice that the journalist folk that put stuff on the World-Wide-Web do not update often. I know that they are busy, overworked and -- well, celebrities need them. However, the past can unfairly linger.
Who didn't look great in their Twenties?

The female body is designed to put on fat and lose it. So, comparisons of recent pictures  with the way I looked before I had kids? It used to be hurtful. (Just wait for my bare-it-all book  Woman in RED© . . .  coming this year.)

No longer. Scroll down to the last picture on the page and tell me that I am fat. Taken just a month ago. Not fat, but FIT. I can run to my front gate and back -- I do each day. An eight mile run.  Mountain lions, bears, coyotes and . . . dozens of wild turkeys that yell at me GOBBLE GOBBLE.

Thus my comment that it is "hard to fly like an eagle, when surrounded by turkeys." I did not mean the real ones, but lazy journalists that do not update.

There is a different sort of obesity that  Kelly’s  Kitchen©  will work against . . . manipulated food for ourselves and our children.

Check out some of these comparisons:

Your choice for yourself and children -- a soda or some organic strawberries on carrots? So, more to come in the following weeks.

The Bravest Mother I know . . .

                    My Friend  Amy Potvin.

                                                                    KellyCare 2012©
As a celebrity spokes person for a number of causes -- cancer, particularly children with cancer have become a passion. In 2010, I was asked to present awards at the 7th  International Symposium of Hyperbaric Oxygenation. It was there that I became firm and forever friends with Amy Potvin.

One of the Awards I presented was to Amy's twin daughters -- Ellie and Gracie Potvin. Amy had prepared  tribute video for her baby-girl, Ellie. This remarkable child had gained "Angel Wings" a month earlier.  Here it is -- take the 8 minutes to watch it. Have tissues nearby.

                                                                    LiftUpFoundation 2012©

Then Amy stood and for twenty minutes addressed a hundred or more scientists and specialist physicians. The gist of her message was as follows:

" Ellie fought for 2 years and was given hard core amounts of chemo and radiation using a 30 year old protocol to start the fight. I was disgusted!  Ellie had stage 4 rhabdomyosarcoma diagnosed at 6 years of age in July 2008.  It was only after the Oncologists sent her home to die, April of 2010, that God Blessed my family with HBOT treatment.

I firmly believe that Ellie would be alive today should we have started with this immune boosting treatment.   Though I am sad to say that we started this cancer healing therapy too late. But, I was blessed to have been given more days with Ellie through HBOT.  Ellie fought till June 23, 2010.

Ellie has a twin sister, Grace. I can tell you with great HOPE... that should Grace be diagnosed tomorrow... I would start with HBOT treatment.  It would be through great difficulty to poison my child again.  The chemotherapy caused her such great suffering above and beyond the cancer.  Please look into alternative treatments.  I have started the Lift Up Foundation and pray that in years to come it will support and educate families like yours on HBOT and other alternative treatments.

Blessings -- Amy Potvin.

Amy never missed a beat, did not lose track of her message nor flinched when delegates blundered out of large room, to find solace in the hallway and to compose themselves. There was not one dry eye in the room.

And here we are, my friend Amy and me. Yes, red-eyed, the both of us. Tears are supposed to be shed over those that would cry of us. Ellie Angel Specialized in Kindness" so she told her mother a month or so before she flew. I was moved to write the following:

"Amy is one of the most passionate speakers that I have had the pleasure of listening to.  It is her knowledge through tragedy that has given her voice clarity and her heart passion to create a higher purpose.  Amy shows a dedication to this cause of supporting others in need of love, hope and faith.  Our wonderful Amy has to be allowed to be heard fallout are far too many of our children dying of disease that can hope to live.   Amy also has great compassion for others who are hurting and in need of words of encouragement.  Please let us learn from each other through Amy.  She is the one to convey the message . . . for she and her family knows the story so well.  Amy is a natural born speaker and motivator. Let us give her voice a platform to be heard and there will not be a dry eye in the house!
Amy is a connector and a messenger that has an amazing voice of wisdom to be heard.   I take great pleasure in calling Amy Potvin my friend and have learned so much from listening to her.
Her friend  - Kelly LeBrock"

And here is Bravest Gracie -- with her "Fly Ellie Fly" cake. Ellie is never far away from Gracie's shoulders. But what about Amy and her husband Tim? Determined to make a difference the tirelessly helping others.

If you are moved by the Courage of this family, and you feel a little foot in your back pushing you to ddo something -- it is Ellie, back from the beach. Her idea of Heaven was and is, white sand and salty water.

And some good news also . . .  see for yourselves . . . Ava "Binkey Boo" has now arrived.

Amy Potvin, my Special Friend, I love you and I salute you.

Kisses and hugs.

"Don't Hate Me Because I am Beautiful" Pantene Ad'

What do I really think about me?

First, take a moment to look at the Pantene commercial . . . (thanks Pantene, you make a great product), it will take less than three minutes of your time.

The, scroll down the photographs and think "if I was a little girl looking in the mirror . . . what would I think?"

Yup,  just like you, that is what I thought. Legs too long, arms to gangly, too skinny, lips too blubbery   (Yes, I got that at school and that is what I was told by lots of agencies when I came to New York at 17)  -- but the camera lens loved me. Even so, I never really took myself for granted!

                                                                     KellyCare 2012©
And now the truth . . . I must have blurted it out to the journalist -- I still hold true to that statement and belief.

Farm Girl? Ranch Girl? Horse Woman?

Nope . . . a Mom raising kids.

At the age of  fifteen, I worked at a riding school in London. Which meant, that I would escort riders down through Hyde Park and into Kensington Gardens. That was the glamour part of my day. Then, back into the stables  and change clothes. Grab a shovel, muck the stalls out, groom the horses, polish leather. I loved it! Calloused hands, and a strong back. I have never been afraid of hard physical work.

So, in yesterday's post, you caught me feeding the goats and covered with hay -- the exploding hay bale. The switch from glamour to hard work. I am used to it and I love it. And the Ranch is always full of kids, horses, and . . . hard work. What a healthy way to live.

You have already seen this picture of my wonderful son, Dom' at his Prom' recently. How those days have flown since he was a tiny little fellow that I could scoop up and cuddle (see the inset). But look at me . . . from the chores on the farm in my work clothes to delivering my young Hero for his special night out. Proud Mom.

Do not get the wrong idea about my happy memories. My life has had many challenges -- days of fear, sick children, sleepless nights, not enough money, shrill discussions with teenagers of the house. However, it also had its lovely times, rewarding days and nights.

My advice to parents . . . keep a sense of humor and a positive outlook. There are more sunny days than rainy ones and, there are more happy days in a lifetime (even to come) for the unhappy ones!  Tomorrow I would like to tell you about a friend of mine, Amy Potvin -- one of the bravest mothers that I have ever met!

And you can see that riding boots -- dressage or cowboy -- just part of my life.

I hate the person who took this picture because he was correct "never trust the integrity of a bale of hay."

I promised you all some personal stuff about me. Well, this is where I live. I am still uncertain whether I am a "Ranch Girl" or a "Farm Girl." You can decide . . .

More on it in my next blog.

I want to tell you of a little incident that almost had me tossed into the street by the hospital’s security people.

I have long had an interest in cancer and the fact that an interdisciplinary approach of regular allopathic medical response plus diet and exercise would allow a human body to defeat this potentially deadly challenge. Included in this complimentary medical approach was the use of hyperbaric oxygen therapy  -- something unusual and that cannot be given under hospital reimbursement rules. I know that oxygen works, since I was one of the first private owners of a hospital grade hyperbaric chamber . . . years before my next-door neighbor – Michael Jackson – installed one on his Neverland Ranch.

About 4 years ago I was visiting a small patient at the San Diego Children's Hospital.  Tiny Carson had endured mutilating surgery because of a reaction to his chemo’ for leukemia.  His depleted immune system could not cope and he had a terrible fungal infection starting to devour his body – Mucor’ almost always fatal and the fungus that surgeons call “the man-eating plant.”

On my first visit I noticed that he was given soft foods – jelly and tapioca pudding. High calories. High sugar – the stuff that cancer cells just thrive on. At the time I said nothing to his parents – not my business but their child.

Now I feel great. At last others are realizing why the correct food is so important to regain and maintain health. From yesterday’s headlines and with gratitude to journalist Kim Painter of “USA Today”

And, it is a fitting introduction to my upcoming television reality cooking show and book series:

Hullo . . .
It really is me. Kelly LeBrock  - The Woman in Red and the construct from Weird Science (and lots of other movies.) However, those two sort of became cult movies - and I carry them around with me even to this day, often as not a curse and often as not a key to open doorways to adventure, new friends and opportunities.

Am I really "Lisa" the construct?  Or the mysterious Woman in Red?

Despite the rumors, the gloss and glamour of "Celebrity," I am just "Kelly" in my mind -- and the same as any other woman with three children to raise.  My wish is for you to get to know the real human -- me.

Now my children are young adults. No longer my "children" in that sense of the word, but my "offspring" and really good friends of mine.

The really great thing about this next chapter of my life, I can now give back and  pass it forward by doing my very best to show that I do care -- thus my BLOG name "KellyCare."

I care for the children and adults with cancer . . . there has to be a better way to treat these patients.
I care for the veterans that come back home with post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
I care for the emotionally battered women (and men) whose negative life's experience have left them with the "civilian" version of  PTSD.
I care for the children diagnosed with Autism.
I care that Americans, per head of population, eat about 66 pounds of sugar each year.
I care that America's food is adulterated and manipulated and that parents do not know how to cook for themselves or families . . .

AND I AM DOING SOMETHING ABOUT ALL OF THIS!

Each of my blog entries that you see in the coming months will tell you what I am doing and what you can do to show you care.

Remember, however, any photograph in my blog is mine and mine alone and covered by copyright. If you want to use it, you must have my written permission. To that end, you can always leave a comment.

Finally, you will get to meet me and we can evaporate some of the silly paparazzi rumors about me and meet some of my good friends, chosen carefully and whose friendships have lasted decades.

May you all have the same amount of fun and glee at taking every breathe  on this wonderful Planet and may the hard work and worries, healthcare challenges that you all will face, just be a fly-speck on the rich tapestry of your life . . .
